The Egg Vase is thrown on the potter's wheel and then altered into a melon-like form to create a unique design that reflects nature's influence on Ben III's designs
Egg Vase in Dogwood White, 6"h (Ben Owen III) Flower Vase Beautiful by itselfA classic and popular shape from Ben Owen III and his family, this Egg Vase creates an elegant understatement to compliment the thick glaze application, resembling the look of icing on a cake. The scalloped design on the base is influenced by techniques seen in early Chinese glazed pottery during the Song and Tang Dynasties and early Japanese techniques. The rich color of the local, native red clay enhances the white glaze coating. Measuring 3. 5"w x
