Nomenclature and Synonyms History and Origin Structure and physicochemical properties Amino Acid Sequence Epithalon consists of 4 amino acids arranged in the following sequence: H-Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly-OH One letter code: AEDG Characteristics of Amino Acids Position 1 (Ala) L-alanine, a small hydrophobic amino acid Position 2 (Glu) L-glutamic acid, an acidic amino acid Position 3 (Asp) L-aspartic acid, an acidic amino acid Position 4 (Gly) glycine, the smallest amino acid Physicochemical properties Structural Characteristics Epithalon is a short, linear peptide with the following characteristics: No aromatic amino acids (poor UV absorption at 280 nm) Two acidic residues (Glu, Asp) highly hydrophilic No hydrophobic residues (except Ala) N-end free, C-end free (acid form) Low molecular weight easy penetration Purity, identification and quality control Product Specification ONE EPITHALON 10 mg Quality parameters: Analytical Notes Due to the lack of aromatic amino acids: UV detection at 214 nm (peptide bonds) Poor absorption at 280 nm Alternative: MS or ELSD detection Storage and laboratory handling Storage Conditions Freeze-dried form: Temperature: -20C (optimal) Permissible: 2-8C (up to 3 months) Protect against moisture Shelf life: 24 months at -20C After reconstitution: Solvent: sterile water or PBS Storage: 2-8C Use within 14 days Possibility to freeze aliquots (-20C) Reconstitution Instructions Leave the vial at room temperature (10-15 min) Add sterile water slowly along the side Recommended concentration: 1-5 mg/ml Peptide dissolves easily (hydrophilic) The solution should be clear and colorless Store in the refrigerator Security Use standard laboratory protective equipment Avoid contact with skin and eyes Work under aseptic conditions Product for in vitro testing only Mechanism of action at the molecular level Areas of Molecular Research Epithalon is studied in the context of various cellular mechanisms
