On the reverse is written Matt Otto

1929)  a Lowell-based painter and illustrator

I'd guess these have at least a hundred years on the them

which most likely dates from the mid-20th century

“Dead Insects for Study, No Commercial Value, Handle with Care” Box inlaid frames On the reverse is writtenSadly the dead insects are long gone from this old wooden box, but the great handwritten label on the top is still fairly readable, and inside still is the cork they were pinned to, with a pretty amazing line drawing with numbers that I guess once corresponded to a key detailing the various bugs, and also notes what I guess was the boxes original contents: Soledad Cuban cigars. Ready now to house a new collection, but great just for whatever. 9" l x 5
