Platanus orientalis f. digitata red often persisting to ChristmasThe digitata form is similar to the species, maturing to a large, stately tree with a wide spreading head of branches. It differs by its deeply incised, palmate leaves; hence the name digitata meaning hand like. Pendulous bristly fruits are borne in clusters of 3 6 which often remain through winter. Very attractive dappled and cream coloured, flaking bark. H6
