I've looked at enough of these carved Inuit figures to feel pretty confident that he dates to the late 19th century or so
but my love for this is for the fact that the sculptural wood “hook” looks just like a horse’s head
one for 15 and two for three
which has a nice weight and stiffness that keeps it wrinkle-free and would make it easy just to pin to the wall

Abstracted Figure(s), Modernist Mid Century Carved Sculpture handprinted porcelain I've looked at enough ofThis carving, which I purchased from a mostly mid century dealer with a really nice eye, just struck me with every turn it seems just about to resolve into something, like a pair of embracing figures, or a figure carrying a child, but it never quite does and so feels perpetually elusive and dynamic. From a few angles it also really appears as if there are the features of a face, or two, trapped just below the surface, waiting to emerge! 9 1 2 t x 3 3
