Nicely Carved Folk Art Pointer gendarme I believe this box is

I believe this box is Meiji period Japanese

I love them as a pair and would use them as vases or perhaps as storage vessels for chopsticks or wooden spoons or whatnot

4 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" diameter

with some paint loss on the corners and one side particularly and some scratching to the plexiglass consistent with use

signed Adams on the underside of the base

Nicely Carved Folk Art Pointer gendarme I believe this box isQuite a nicely carved little hunting dog I'd say, with the grain of the wood enhancing a sense of its alertness and forward pointing readiness; one can almost feel it sniffing out a scent! Nice warm patina to the dry wood; mid century I'd guess, with a mcm sort of sleekness about it. 4 7 8" x 3 1 4" t x 1 3 8" and in very good vintage condition.
